So many of us struggle with anxiety and/or depression. It is estimated that 1 in 4 Americans suffer from depression and nearly half with anxiety. That's a lot of stress and sadness!!! The next time you find yourself anxious or depressed, consider listening to your thoughts. If you are feeling depressed, likely your thoughts are looking back at the past, wishing something were different. If you are feeling anxious, likely your thoughts are focused on the future or what MIGHT happen. Simply the awareness of where your thoughts are taking you can help you focus back on the present and abate the overwhelming impact of anxious and depressed states.
